Dolce and Gabbana:  Spring/Summer 2013
Dolce sure does know how to present a quality line, filled with looks that sing of the colorful tradition of Italy. It is clear through the show’s progression that the brand was attempting to include a representation of Italy as a whole through depicting it’s different regions. The colorful coast of Amalfi, the modern aspects of Milan, agricultural production in Tuscany, aquatic presence of Venice, and the traditions of Rome.
It can also be seen that a slight Cuban influence was represented. The broad stripped looks are a clear comparison to styles seen in the Caribbean resort towns and also in South America.
The majority of these looks exuded an almost couture feel, having such intricate artful qualities. From the hand detailing on many of the looks from the vibrance of the colors, this collection really didn’t have a low point. The model’s styling was like the cherry on top of this gelato sundae. Darkened cheekbones, vibrant headbands, and long Cuban style earrings were perfect compliments to the exquisite looks sent down the runway.
The definite showstoppers of this collection were the wooden bird-cage like structures that were the last looks displayed. Ranging from a beautiful brassier to a full gown, these structures can only be described as beautiful and a perfect representation of all that is Milan Fashion Week.
Dolce and Gabbana did not disappoint this season. I was captivated looking through the photos from this collection, from the beautifully bright colorings to the amazing garments. As a powerhouse in the fashion world, Dolce did not disappoint…but did anyone expect anything less?
